A good day in Vladivostok

The Russians invite their citizens to create their own 'Warsaw Pacts' at home, a sad anniversary, an apology for nothing in particular, and a confused Anglican populace --- The Meaningful Collateral tackles the pressing issues of the day.

The breaking news of the day is that the NFL is apparently doing SOMETHING to the Patriots, although what that something is has yet to be announced. A news conference this afternoon by Captain Mumbles didn't tell us much, although it's well worth reading the story just to see Belichick pull a Giambi at the podium.

As we reach the midway point of the week, it's important to pause and reflect back on what has taken place before. Many people have forgotten, but we're approaching the anniversary of one of the darkest days in college football history. For those who value the lessons learned from history, this video should serve as a chilling reminder of what can happen when things go too far on the field.

Stay classy, Hanover. May the gods be merciful on ye.

Elsewhere, it's apparently going to be a busy afternoon in Russia. I'm guessing that this is the real reason why Putin dissolved the government today.

The arrival of David Beckham in the USA has had at least one enjoyable outcome --- British soccer fans are confused about the American sportscasting lexicon. Okay, I'll admit that calling left-footed kickers "southpaws" is kinda dumb, but have the Brits really never heard the term "real estate" applied to soccer? For shame.
